Learn how to handle difficult conversations with communication skills training

Effective communication skills are fundamental to the successful leadership and management of employees.  Often however, communications amongst managers and their team members get lost in translation and misunderstandings, frustration and conflicts can arise. This one-day training course examines behavioural styles in the workplace and looks at the strengths and limitations of preferred communications styles.  Using the renowned Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance model (DISC), methods of modifying our own approach to communication more effectively with people are also covered.  The session also covers techniques and approaches to more confidently handle difficult conversations.

Who should attend?

Anyone wishing to develop their communication skills.  The session is particularly well suited to team members wishing to understand more about their approach to communications and the dynamics amongst themselves.  As the content includes methods of adapting communication styles and approaches to handling difficult conversations it is well suited to individuals wishing to develop self-awareness and their approach to leadership.

Course structure

The course is designed for up to 12 participants, it is delivered in an informal and interactive style encouraging group discussion.

  • Guidance on modifying approaches to suit the communication preferences of people
  • Guidance, discussion and tasks in relation to handling a range of difficult conversation types and resolving conflict
